Julia Piggin, an Honorary Life Member of Kodály Victoria, has contributed to music education as a classroom music teacher, a workshop presenter, and a teacher trainer in Primary Kodály Methodology, developing courses in collaboration with others and producing resources.

As principal accompanist of Young Voices of Melbourne and a committed student of music, she has travelled widely in both hemispheres, participating in festivals and observing classes and rehearsals in many languages and settings. Sitting in the sand when visiting the Tiwi Islands, she experienced the magic of the crocodile songs and dances.

In the primary classrooms of the Kodály school in Kecskemet, Hungary, she was mesmerised by the unity of musical sound produced and inspired by the academic diligence of students. In Japan, she was awed by the quality of music-making and the considered attention to detail in presentation.
