Secondary Music Meetups
Join a network of peers to make sense of secondary classroom music and raise the standard of secondary music teaching.
5 Tuesday nights at a pub:
Secondary classroom music teachers have a tough gig. We teach students of wildly different musical backgrounds, working off a broad curriculum with few concrete outcomes expected of us. We have to differentiate, be culturally responsive, create meaningful assessment tasks and make music enjoyable, all with a group of students who may have already fallen out of love with classroom music. It’s hard to get right and even harder when we’re working alone. Join an inaugural Secondary Music Meetups group to connect with like-minded peers and start making the changes you want to see in your music program.
Each meetup will be led by a facilitator and sessions will cover a range of topics. To ensure active participation and robust discussions, groups are capped at six and participants are expected to commit to all dates.
Please let us know which region you live or teach in, so we can find a location that suits everyone!
Cost: $135 – This covers administrative costs as well as nibbles at the pub
