Join Kodály Vic and the Victorian Orff Schulwerk Association (VOSA) for our annual Back to School Day! The morning will include workshops run by Kodály and Orff experts! Brush off the cobwebs and kick-start the New Year. Be inspired by fresh and innovative ideas!

Enter via Leslie Rd gate and follow signs to the Cultural Centre.

Katie Hull-Brown – Lower Orff
With a 20 year Music Education portfolio career, Katie Hull-Brown has connected with family, preschool and primary school communities to facilitate active music making and provide explicit Teacher Mentoring, shining a light on process to share the power of Arts Learning.
Formative training in Teaching and Orff Schulwerk pedagogy, together with her family’s passion for music, has been the catalyst for a diverse work life in Education, Curriculum Development, Community Engagement and Arts Learning Leadership.
Career highlights include Creative Director of Tuned In Music; providing preschool music classes called Musical Generations to include the elderly, and KIDS (Kids in Darebin Sing) Choir, working with Richard Gill in his National Music Teacher Mentoring Program, gaining a scholarship to attend the 2017 Orff Schulwerk Summer School in Saltzburg, Austria, teaching in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Pizzicato Effect community outreach program and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra’s 2020 Summer School, and mentoring and curriculum development for Musica Viva and The Song Room.
Katie sings in three choirs; Prana Choir led by Sue Johnson, Songrise; 4 part acapella group and Tiers De Picardie; a Madrigal group, and leads The Quadwranglers, the parent band at her children’s Primary School.
Katie is currently the National Arts Learning Manager at The Song Room where she leads Professional Learning and manages TLC; the Transformational Learning through Creativity three year national arts mentoring program. In 2021, she has been participating in Leadership Victoria’s Williamson Leadership Program on a scholarship.
Renée Heron – Lower Kodály
Renée is currently the Artistic Director of The Yarra Voices and a primary music teacher and choral director at Caulfield Grammar, Malvern Campus. In 2016-17, She had the privilege of attending the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary. Renée is a musicianship and methodology course lecturer for Kodály Australia, where she serves as President of the Victorian Branch and acts as a regular adjudicator and workshop presenter. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Queensland and a Master of Teaching from the University of Melbourne. Renée is a core member of Melbourne based chamber choir, Polyphonic Voices and a founding member of Alta Collective.
Dr Sarah Brooke – Upper Orff
Dr Sarah Brooke is a creative arts educator who has taught adults and children of all ages including mothers and babies, school children, music educators, community workers, classroom teachers, seniors and prisoners. As an educator supporting the Orff Schulwerk approach, Sarah has presented workshops for educators in a range of settings and countries, the most extensive being in China. She is currently the President of VOSA and a Board member of the International Orff Schulwerk Forum Salzburg.
Jenny Ferris – Upper Kodály
Jenny Ferris is a Kodály-inspired primary music teacher based in Melbourne. She studied a Bachelor & Master of Music (Performance Teaching) at the University of Melbourne and spent several years teaching French horn. Having come from an instrumental music background, Jenny then completed her Australian Kodaly Certificate in 2017 and has since presented numerous workshops both in Australia and overseas alongside her primary classroom music role. Jenny currently teaches music at Epping Primary School. Jenny is the owner-operator of online business Kodaly Crafts in which she publishes articles, blogs and teaching materials to support other Kodaly-inspired teachers around the world. Jenny has a love of holistic music teaching and loves finding ways to experience music through movement.
